As your drive your ride on mower around your property it will grow increasingly dirty with grass clippings, dirt and dust. When you’re finished, simply putting your mower away without cleaning it could cause this debris to build up considerably, making it more and more difficult to remove as time goes on. You are better off giving the deck a good clean after each use.
Step 1: Give the ride on a good spray with the garden hose as soon as you have finished cutting the grass. Raise the deck as high as it will go, then stick the hose underneath and give the bottom of the machine a good spray.
Step 2: On the odd occasion, drive the mower onto two wheel ramps so that you can give the underside of the deck a thorough clean. Spray the underside with the garden hose, then scrub using a dishwashing detergent and water solution.
Step 3: Rinse the underside of the mower with the garden hose to remove all traces of the soap. Then, lower the deck and give the outside a good scrub to ensure that all grime has been removed.
By hosing down your ride on mower after every use and periodically giving the deck a more in-depth clean, you can help to prevent dirt and grime from building up on your machine. If you would like to, you can even buff the metal on the outside of your mower so that it has a shiny appearance; this will ensure that your machine is always looking its best.
